Audiovisuals Web

INSA is a multidisciplinary research centre leading research, education and innovation in nutrition and food safety. The project aimed to transform its digital presence through a new institutional website capable of better communicating its scientific activity, improving content management through a new CMS, and strengthening its digital identity.

The challenge: transforming a scientific website into a strategic communication tool

The INSA-UB leadership and communications team commissioned a complete redesign of the website, which presented both functional and communicative limitations. On one hand, the existing CMS did not allow agile content updates, making daily website management difficult. On the other, the visual identity did not reflect the level of innovation and pioneering research carried out at the centre.

The challenge was to create an institutional website capable of organising large volumes of scientific information, simplifying content editing, and building a coherent, accessible digital narrative aligned with the centre’s positioning.

The solution: content architecture, UX/UI and a new digital visual language

After analysing the client’s needs, the project began with the definition of a new content architecture aimed at improving navigation and information clarity. We then developed wireframes to validate the user experience before moving into the visual design phase.

Once the structure was approved, we designed the final UX/UI interface, creating a new digital graphic language tailored specifically for the web environment. The existing identity guidelines were limited and lacked digital-specific criteria, leading us to expand the typographic system through a combination of serif and sans-serif typefaces to improve information hierarchy and readability.

At the same time, we proposed a photographic session across the centre’s different locations to strengthen the project’s visual quality and convey a closer, more human and professional image.

To communicate the three main research areas, we developed a set of custom illustrations that add a distinctive personality to the website while helping explain complex scientific content in a clearer and more accessible way.

Results: a clearer, more accessible digital identity aligned with scientific research

The new website provides INSA-UB with a flexible digital platform that is easy to manage and ready to evolve alongside its communication needs. The renewed user experience improves access to information, strengthens understanding of scientific activity and projects an image aligned with the institution’s prestige.

Through this project, INSA-UB consolidates a stronger and more contemporary digital identity capable of communicating science with clarity and proximity, enhancing institutional visibility and international projection.
