Strategy Web Design
The Universitat Rovira i Virgili needed to modernise its internal corporate applications with a dual objective: to improve the user experience and redesign the interface in line with its visual identity.
At Ondeuev, we led the project from the initial assessment through to the UX/UI design and the development of a reusable component system, implemented in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. This shared foundation enables the seamless integration and future evolution of the university’s various internal applications.
The challenge: unifying the user experience across internal applications and creating a shared foundation for future growth
The Universitat Rovira i Virgili had a range of internal applications that had been developed over time using different interface and user experience standards. As a result, users faced an inconsistent experience, while maintaining and evolving the university’s digital ecosystem became increasingly complex.
Before starting the redesign, it was essential to analyse the existing applications, understand their main use cases and identify opportunities for improvement. This discovery phase provided a comprehensive view of the project and laid the foundations for a shared strategy.
The objective went beyond refreshing the visual appearance of the interfaces. The aim was to define a shared system that would unify design and user experience standards, streamline the development of new features, and ensure consistency and scalability across the entire application ecosystem.
The solution: strategic assessment, UX/UI design and development of a reusable component system
The project began with a strategic assessment phase involving workshops with key stakeholders at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, an analysis of the existing applications, and the identification of their main use cases. This process provided a clear roadmap and helped define the priorities for the future evolution of the applications.
Based on these findings, we designed a new user experience (UX/UI), creating a cleaner, more intuitive interface aligned with the university’s visual identity. At the same time, we developed a style guide and a reusable component system that established shared visual and functional standards across all applications, working closely with the URV’s technical team throughout the process.
To support implementation, we developed the component system in HTML, CSS and JavaScript using Bootstrap, creating a documented library of reusable interface elements ready to be integrated into the university’s different applications.
Finally, we implemented the main reference screens and delivered a repository containing the reusable components together with the technical documentation required for the development team to integrate them efficiently while ensuring visual consistency across the entire application ecosystem.
Results: a shared foundation for URV's internal applications
The project has provided the Universitat Rovira i Virgili with a solid foundation to evolve its internal applications in a consistent and efficient way. The new user experience, style guide and reusable component system unify the interface across the different applications while simplifying their development and maintenance.
In addition, the delivery of fully implemented and documented components enables the technical team to integrate them efficiently and establishes a shared framework that supports scalability, long-term consistency and the future evolution of the university’s application ecosystem.
